James Harden’s mug shot surfaced after the NBA star was arrested early Saturday in Houston on a misdemeanor weapons charge tied to a handgun reportedly found in his vehicle.
According to police records cited in reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard was stopped at about 3:41 a.m. for a traffic-related violation. During the stop, officers allegedly discovered a handgun on a seat inside the vehicle. The firearm was not secured in a holster, leading to a charge of “unlawful carrying of a weapon.”
Harden, 36, was booked and later released after posting a $100 bond.

The Cavaliers issued a brief response after the arrest became public, saying the team is “aware” of the situation and is “gathering more information” before making any additional comment.
The arrest comes after Harden helped Cleveland make a deep postseason run in his first year with the team. He arrived from the Los Angeles Clippers in a midseason trade and quickly became one of the Cavaliers’ key veterans.
During the season, Harden averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game. Cleveland reached the Eastern Conference Finals before falling to the New York Knicks, who went on to win the NBA Finals in five games.
Harden is expected to appear in court later this month as the misdemeanor case moves forward.
