Mistrial Declared In YNW Melly’s Murder Trial

A mistrial has been held in YNW Melly’s murder trial after the jury remained deadlocked after deliberation.

Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy declared a mistrial after a 12-member jury panel was unable to decide after three days of deliberations.

The state of Florida argues that Melly, real name Jamell “Melly” Demons was the shooter who killed Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams on Oct. 26, 2018. They then accuse the rapper of staging a drive-by shooting in Miramar with the help of his friend, Cortlen “Bortlen” Henry.

“We are somewhat disappointed that Melly is not walking out the door with us,” said Melly’s Defense Attorney Stuart Adelstein to Local 10 News. “There is a lack of evidence, there is a conflict in the evidence, and the evidence itself and the investigation itself, stinks.”

Broward County prosecutors will now likely choose to retry the case with a new jury. Melly denies all of the allegations against him.
