Blogger Milagro Cooper, known online as Milgaro Gramz, must keep paying Megan Thee Stallion $75,000 after a federal judge rejected her request to pause payment while she appeals.
In newly surfaced court documents, Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga ruled that Cooper did not provide sufficient grounds to put the judgment on hold. The damages stem from Megan’s lawsuit accusing Milgaro of helping spread false claims about her after Tory Lanez shot the rapper in 2020.
A jury found Milgaro liable for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, ordering her to pay $75,000. Milgaro later argued that having to pay now would create “undue financial hardship,” but the court was not persuaded.
“[Gramz] merely argues that her appeal concerns ‘significant issues . . . regarding post-trial rulings, the reinstatement of the defamation verdict, and other issues,’ without explaining why those matters are likely to resolve in her favor,” Altonaga wrote.
The judge added that the blogger offered “merely generalized disagreement with the jury’s verdict and the Court’s post-trial rulings,” which was not enough to show she is likely to win on appeal.
Milgaro is reportedly continuing her appeal.
