Michigan Staffer Who Reported Relationship With Sherrone Moore Departs University

A University of Michigan staff member connected to the case involving former football coach Sherrone Moore is no longer employed by the school.

Records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request show the woman’s contract ended on Feb. 28 and was not renewed. The woman previously worked as an executive assistant for Moore and earned about $99,000 last year, according to a university salary report.

University officials confirmed that the staffer had provided information to administrators about what she described as an inappropriate relationship with Moore.

The situation became public in December when Moore was fired by athletic director Warde Manuel. Hours later, Moore was arrested following an incident at the staffer’s home. Authorities charged him with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering.

The university has since launched two separate investigations. One review focuses on Moore’s conduct while another examines the broader culture inside the athletic department.

“The University is committed to ensuring both are handled with the seriousness, independence, and care they require,” university spokesperson Paul Corliss said in a statement.

The Chicago law firm Jenner & Block has been hired to assist with the investigation. Records show the firm was paid more than $2 million for work completed between December and January.

Officials expect the investigation to continue through the spring.
