Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., is reportedly under investigation after his son allegedly discovered hundreds, possibly thousands, of child sexual abuse images among his belongings in the Philippines.
According to The Sun, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, alerted authorities after finding the suspected material inside boxes containing family keepsakes, electronic devices and other personal items at his father’s home in Cebu.
“When I found this material I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad,” Thomas Jr. told the outlet.
The 82-year-old retired television lighting director reportedly left the Philippines in May following serious health complications that resulted in the amputation of his left leg. Thomas Jr. claims he also contacted the FBI and submitted a sworn statement to Philippine authorities, who are reportedly preparing to examine the materials.
“I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him,” he said.
Meghan has always had a strained relationship with her father and he has consistently trashed her to the press.
“Now maybe people will finally understand why she has had nothing to do with her father since 2018,” a source close to the Duchess of Sussex told The Sun.
Thomas Sr. has not publicly addressed the allegations, and no charges have been reported.
