On Sunday’s episode of Married to Medicine, Simone and her husband, Cecil Whitmore, got into a heated discussion following a celebratory graduation dinner with their sons, Miles and Michael.
Simone quickly reminded viewers that college graduation also comes with real-world expectations. “Now, it’s time to pay bills, baby,” she joked in a confessional.
After the twins surprised their parents by cooking pasta and mixing cocktails, the conversation shifted from celebration to finances.
Simone raised concerns about Michael’s spending habits and his plans for law school, revealing that he had “spent over $60,000 by himself” in a single year on a credit card. She then asked how he planned to “finance” his next step.
Michael did not hesitate with his response. “I do have a mother who makes pretty good money,” he said, prompting a blunt reply from Simone.
“I don’t feel like I should be footing the bill for anything other than the roof over your head, that sort of a thing,” she shot back, adding that she paid for her own doctorate with “scholarship money and loans.”
Michael pushed back, arguing that Simone’s mother had not been in the financial position to help her the way Simone could help him. He also claimed that many of his peers were benefiting from generational wealth.
According to Michael, the “rich white kids’” parents often pay for everything, allowing them to graduate “debt free” and already positioned as “millionaires” before their careers even begin.
Cecil appeared to side with his son, chiming in, “Michael’s point is still a valid one. We are blessed. We are in a situation where we can help.”
Simone, however, felt increasingly isolated as the discussion continued. “I get tired of being the lone man out. It’s always three against one,” she vented in a confessional.
Tensions escalated when Cecil said he was “jumping in” again
“You don’t f–-king jump in. You can’t speak for me ’cause you don’t think like me. You don’t support me on s–t,” she yelled. Viewers sided with Simone, calling her sons out for being entitled and dragging Cecil for not having his wife’s back.
