The criminal case connected to the death of Migos rapper Takeoff is officially moving toward trial.
Patrick Xavier Clark, the man charged in the fatal shooting, is scheduled to stand trial beginning Nov. 9, his attorney confirmed. Jury selection is expected to begin a few days earlier, on Nov. 5.
Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was 28 when he was killed during a private gathering at a downtown Houston bowling alley in November 2022.
The event followed a dice game involving his uncle and groupmate Quavo. Authorities said gunfire broke out shortly after an argument, and Takeoff was struck and died at the scene. Two other people were wounded but survived.
Prosecutors have alleged that surveillance footage captured Clark firing a weapon toward a crowd and that his fingerprints were found on a wine bottle recovered from the location. Clark has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger.
“He did not kill Takeoff,” his defense has said, maintaining his innocence as the case heads to a courtroom.
The remaining Migos rappers, Offset and Quavo, have reportedly been rebuilding their friendship since his death.
“Me and Quavo talk every other week,” Offset said last August. “It be the internet trying to do some old s–t, but with us, it ain’t about that. Like, we holla at each other,” he continued.
“That’s family at the end of the day, man. You’re gonna bump heads with your family sometimes,” the “Bodies” rapper added. “End of the day, a n—a ain’t finna play with him, or a n—a ain’t finna play with me and he gon’ play about it.”
