Macklemore has found another stage after being dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour.
The “Thrift Shop” rapper announced his new Free Palestine Tour Thursday, revealing plans to perform in Dublin, Paris, and London this October, and his guests are yet to be announced.
Proceeds from the shows will benefit organizations providing aid and other support to Palestinians.
“So, as you all know, my schedule freed up a bit,” Macklemore wrote while announcing the shows. He said he has been reaching out to artists who have used their platforms to support Palestinians even when doing so brought backlash and got him kicked off a major tour.
Macklemore was recently removed from Sheeran’s Loop Tour after saying “Free Palestine” during his opening appearances and performing “Hind’s Hall,” which criticizes Israel’s military actions in Gaza. The Anti-Defamation League and Robert Kraft accused him of crossing into antisemitic rhetoric, an allegation Macklemore has denied.
Sheeran later said Macklemore’s removal was “not mine,” explaining that the promoter and venues had made the decision. Several musicians connected to the tour then pulled out in solidarity with Macklemore and expressed support for Palestinians, including Sheeran’s
Macklemore’s new run begins October 26 in Dublin, then moves to Paris on October 29 and London on October 30. More performers and future dates, including shows in North America, are expected to be announced.
