Lil Durk Risks Leaving Family ‘Destitute’ in Desperate Bid to Get Out of Jail

Lil Durk’s family could face financial ruin if he violates the terms of a proposed bond agreement that would put his music earnings and his mother’s home at risk.

The rapper’s attorneys made the extraordinary offer in an Oct. 27 court filing, seeking his release after his September acquittal in a murder-for-hire trial.

The proposal includes future recording royalties, publishing income, touring revenue and money generated through his name, image and likeness Sony Music Entertainment is also guaranteeing an appearance bond of up to $1 million, according to court documents.

Durk’s attorneys, including Brian Steel, argue the package is “so robust” that failing to honor its terms would leave his family “destitute indefinitely.”

The 34-year-old Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks, remains incarcerated as he faces separate racketeering charges. His next trial is tentatively expected in 2027. Despite his acquittal, prosecutors previously convinced the court to keep him in custody.

“Mr. Banks has taken the court’s concern to heart,” his attorneys wrote, explaining that the new offer addresses concerns about an earlier bond proposal.

Jay-Z and J. Cole also submitted letters ahead of his November bond hearing.

Jay-Z argued that Durk’s acquittal and presumption of innocence support giving him “the opportunity to await trial at home under whatever conditions the court considers appropriate.”
