Lil Durk will have to wait a little longer for his next trial, but a November hearing could give the incarcerated rapper a chance to return home.
The Chicago native’s second federal trial, initially scheduled for October 5, has been postponed, XXL reports.
His attorneys will instead return to court November 4 to argue for his release on bond.
Durk, born Durk Banks, has been jailed since October 2024 following his arrest in connection with a deadly 2022 Los Angeles shooting.
Prosecutors accused the Grammy winner of financing an attack on Quando Rondo in retaliation for the 2020 killing of his close friend and OTF artist King Von. Rondo survived the ambush, but his 24-year-old cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was fatally shot.
A jury acquitted Durk of every charge on September 11. However, a separate racketeering case involving murder and firearms allegations remains unresolved.
“The shackles must come off, and he must walk free,” attorney Drew Findling declared following the verdict.
Durk previously served time on a weapons conviction and received probation following a separate gun case. In 2019, he surrendered to authorities over an Atlanta shooting involving King Von. Prosecutors dropped the attempted murder and other felony charges in 2022.
“I have nothing to hide,” Durk told WSB-TV at the time before surrendering in that case. “I have nothing to run from.”
His attorneys now intend to seek dismissal of the remaining federal charges, arguing that several accusations overlap with matters addressed in his acquittal.
