Lil Durk Back in Hot Water as Feds Allege Secret Calls and Jail Contraband

Lil Durk’s fight to get out of jail has hit another obstacle after federal prosecutors accused the rapper of secretly communicating with people outside prison using unauthorized devices.

According to a Nov. 4 filing, authorities are investigating whether Durk, 34, helped bring contraband into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. Prosecutors allege the Chicago-born performer repeatedly broke jail rules while awaiting trial.

“Among other violations, [Lil Durk] has repeatedly attempted to conceal his communications by using other inmates’ phone access,” prosecutors wrote.

The government also accused him of making prohibited three-way calls and using smuggled devices for hundreds of conversations. In another allegation, prosecutors claimed Durk refused a cell search just days before his latest bail hearing.

In September, jurors found him not guilty of five charges stemming from an alleged plot to kill fellow rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo survived the 2022 shooting, but his cousin Saviay’a Robinson was killed.

Durk remains in custody on separate racketeering-related murder and firearm charges, which he denies.

His attorneys have proposed a release package secured by future music income, property and financial support, including a guarantee from Sony.

A judge heard arguments Wednesday, Nov. 4, but postponed a bail decision. No new contraband charges have been announced.
