Latto shocked fans on Friday after revealing that her upcoming album Big Mama will also mark the end of her recording career.
“5/29 My retirement album Thank you for everything,” the Atlanta rapper wrote on X while announcing the project’s May 29 release date.

The announcement immediately sparked reactions online, with many fans expressing disbelief that the 28-year-old artist could be stepping away from music so early in her career.
Big Mama is set to include 17 tracks, featuring previously released singles “Somebody,” “Business & Personal” and “GOMF” with GloRilla.
Latto’s most recent album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, arrived in 2024 and debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The project included collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, and Coco Jones. She also teamed up with Cardi B for the “Put It on Da Floor” remix and Playboi Carti on the remix to “Blick Sum.”

Latto has not publicly shared additional details about her decision, but she recently announced her pregnancy with rapper 21 Savage. The couple has decided to keep their baby’s gender a secret about Latto is hoping for a girl.
“I want a girl SO bad!… My mumma says I’m a boy mum, I think I’m a girl mum,” she said. “I want to watch Disney princess movies and stuff. I don’t know what to do with a boy.”
