Lala Kent is reflecting on the end of her relationship with Randall Emmett and says heartbreak was never the hardest part of their split.
During an appearance on the Comfort Food Podcast, Lala said she realized long before the breakup that the relationship was not where she wanted to be.
“This sounds so f–ked up. I didn’t have to deal with heartbreak because I wasn’t in love with him,” Lala said. “So the betrayal … I was so happy that I finally had a reason to leave him, because I desperately wanted that so badly.”
Lala and Randall Emmett ended their engagement in 2021. The former couple shares daughter Ocean, who was born months earlier.
Looking back, Lala said becoming a mother made it harder to ignore problems she had been avoiding.
“Every crack that I had tried to cover up and ignore was showing,” she said. She also revealed that her biggest pain during the breakup centered on co-parenting, not romance. “I was heartbroken because I was going to have to share my child,” she explained.
Lala said the aftermath changed how she approached trust and relationships.
“I built a wall up to the sky. No one was getting in,” she said. “I swore off men.”
She also said the experience made her more aware of unhealthy behavior patterns.
“A toxic man knows how to make you become okay with their toxicity. It’s a slow process,” Lala shared.
Lala is currently starring in Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley.
