Kodak Black is facing a new legal battle after authorities charged the rapper with felony drug trafficking tied to a police investigation near a children’s learning center in Orlando.
The 28-year-old artist, born Bill Kahan Kapri, surrendered at the Orange County jail on Wednesday ahead of a scheduled court appearance Thursday, according to multiple reports. The charge stems from a November 2025 incident in which officers responded to reports of gunfire near Children’s Safety Village.

According to an arrest warrant, police arrived to find several people gathered around a Lamborghini and a BMW. Officers reported smelling cannabis before conducting a search that allegedly uncovered a pink pill that tested positive for MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.
Investigators said the pill was discovered inside a pink bag containing documents with the rapper’s name and approximately $37,000 in cash. Authorities allege the rapper first denied ownership of the bag, then asked officers to return the money, saying it belonged to his business.

Yak has been charged with one felony count of trafficking MDMA under 200 grams. The offense carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of three years under Florida law.
His attorney, Bradford Cohen, denied the allegations in statements shared publicly this week.
“We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed,” Cohen told TMZ, adding that his client “was allegedly not in possession of any drugs and that the charges will not stick.”
