Kodak Black is asking a Florida court to lift his bail conditions after prosecutors allegedly missed the deadline to charge him in an MDMA trafficking case formally.
The rapper was arrested May 6 on a felony charge of trafficking MDMA. Under Florida law, prosecutors had 60 days, until July 5, to file an information or indictment, according to a new defense motion. The filing says neither has been submitted.
Because Kodak Black has already bonded out, his attorneys are asking the court to release him from the remaining bail requirements. Florida law generally calls for a defendant to be released on their “own recognizance” after the deadline unless prosecutors can show “good cause” for an extension of up to 30 days.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigation began after deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the Children’s Safety Village on Fairvilla Road in November 2025.
Deputies found two vehicles and searched them after allegedly smelling burnt cannabis. Investigators said they discovered suspected MDMA inside a pink bag. An arrest affidavit claimed the bag resembled one previously seen on Kodak Black’s Instagram account.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement later identified the substance as MDMA in an amount that supported a trafficking charge, according to authorities.
A judge set Kodak Black’s bond at $75,000 in May, citing his 12 prior felony convictions. He later posted bond. Prosecutors have been contacted about whether formal charges will be filed.
