More than a year before KJ Biermann faced criminal charges, his cellphone was a central issue in his parents’ bitter divorce.
Kim Zolciak filed an emergency motion in February 2025 claiming estranged husband Kroy Biermann had seized their children’s devices after making a “discovery” that remains hidden from public view. She also sought a private judicial review of evidence connected to the matter.
In the filing, Kim alleged Kroy had “unilaterally” stopped her parenting time, taken the children’s phones and prevented them from contacting her. She wrote that she had “grave concerns for the children’s safety and wellbeing” and for preserving possible evidence.
Later records identified the device under review as their “eldest child’s cellular telephone.” Those documents were subsequently sealed. No publicly established connection exists between that dispute and KJ’s current criminal case.
KJ, 15, was indicted earlier this month on seven charges, including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery.
His attorney, Jason Sheffield, has denied the allegations and asked the public to “give the families on both sides their space and privacy.”
Kim has similarly maintained her son’s innocence, saying she remains confident “the facts and evidence will establish the truth.”
