Max B says he fired Karen Civil and is accusing his former business partner of trying to “save face” as their professional split plays out publicly.
The Harlem rapper responded Wednesday after Civil said Always Civil had stopped handling new business for him following the BET Awards.
“I’m not sure why you’re trying to save face, but the reality is you’ve done a lot that led to me letting you go,” Max wrote on Instagram Stories. “Leave me out of your narrative, keep my name out of your mouth, and move on.”
Max previously announced that Civil was terminated from his team effective June 28, the night he made his first televised performance since leaving prison at the 2026 BET Awards.
Civil offered a different account on X, writing that Always Civil had “concluded operating any NEW business with/for Max B since the BET Awards.” She said the agency would temporarily continue overseeing some of his social media properties.

Max confirmed that Always Civil would remain involved with certain platforms until outstanding business with Defiant Records was formally resolved. He said a previous statement issued through his legal counsel would remain online “for transparency.”
Civil also invited people to address her directly instead of discussing her online.
“It seems like people would rather talk about me than talk to me,” she wrote.
Their dispute began on Tuesday when Max accused Civil of hacking his Instagram account. Always Civil denied the allegation and said his page was never hacked.
