Karamo Brown Gets Real About ‘Queer Eye’ Cast Fallout

Tiffany Brockworth |

Karamo Brown, one of the original stars of the Netflix Queer Eye revival, spoke about alleged behind-the-scenes issues on the series, saying his mother’s 2025 visit to set became a breaking point for him.

According to Brown, Charmaine allegedly heard some of his costars speaking badly about him during production.

“The thing I know is the tears I saw in my mother’s eyes,” Brown told PEOPLE. He said she kept saying, “I thought they were your friends.”

“It made me realize I can no longer stay silent about how often I was made to feel like an outsider,” he continued.

Karamo also discussed an alleged sexual harassment complaint that he says affected his bond with the cast. Brown said he had a “fun and flirty” relationship with another cast member during the show’s casting period, but claimed he was cleared after an investigation.

“It broke us,” he said. “We all knew the divide between us.”

The reality star then spoke about Jonathan Van Ness, who previously denied separate allegations about on-set behavior as “overwhelmingly untrue and done in bad faith.” “The work I have seen Jonathan pouring into himself is commendable and inspiring,” Brown said.

“There were times I was hurt and would lash back out,” he added. “I recognize my part and how things I did impacted people.”
