Joe Rogan is not buying into the idea that Conor McGregor can turn back the clock after another serious injury.
The UFC commentator expressed doubts about McGregor’s ability to return to his old form after the fighter suffered an ACL injury during his comeback at UFC 329, where he lost to Max Holloway just seconds into the bout.
McGregor later underwent surgery and has since been active on social media discussing his recovery and plans to fight again in 2027.
Rogan, however, said elite athletes eventually reach a point where their bodies stop cooperating.
“You can only maintain that level of RPMs for so long before you just go crazy,” Rogan said during The Joe Rogan Experience. “It’s too hard.”
He compared McGregor’s situation to boxing greats Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., saying even the most gifted athletes cannot remain at their peak forever.
“Eventually your body’s going to fall apart,” Rogan said. “Your knees are going to give out. You’re going to have back problems. You’re going to break your hands.”
McGregor has not announced an opponent for his planned return, but he has said he wants to compete one final time in 2027.
