Jessica White Opens Up About Miscarriage and Painful Nick Cannon Relationship

Jessica White is sharing new details about her fertility struggles and the grief she experienced after losing her son in 2025.

Speaking with Essence, the reality star and model reflected on the loss of Makoa Aaru Preston Wong, who died shortly before Thanksgiving, and explained how motherhood continues beyond pregnancy.

“A woman remains a mother even after miscarriage,” White said. “Motherhood begins with love, and it doesn’t end with a birth certificate.”

White revealed that years of reproductive health complications, including stage four endometriosis, Hashimoto’s disease, a uterine fibroid, and a large cyst, contributed to multiple miscarriages over time.

The interview also revisited her past relationship with Nick Cannon, which White previously described as emotionally difficult following a pregnancy loss during their relationship. She had said earlier that she learned Cannon was expecting another child through social media shortly after her miscarriage.

In the years since, White said she turned toward spirituality, wellness and fertility education and eventually became a licensed doula and hypnosis practitioner.

“He taught me boundaries,” White said of her late son. “The amount of wisdom that I have right now, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

“Healing is not going to be something clean,” she explained. “It’s messy, and it’s not linear.”

White and her husband, Nathan Wong, are now pursuing surrogacy as they plan for the future.
