Bodycam footage has now surfaced showing the moment 49ers owner Jed York’s trip through an Ohio mobile home park ended with police placing him in handcuffs.
The newly released video from the East Palestine Police Department shows officers approaching York’s rental vehicle during Sunday’s prostitution sting and immediately questioning him.
Asked why he was in the area, York tells police he was “just driving” and denies he was meeting anyone. Moments later, while being cuffed, the NFL owner asks, “Can I ask what you’re doing?”
The footage later shows officers going through York’s belongings and reacting to the cash inside his vehicle. “He’s got a s–t ton of cash,” one officer says.
Police say York, 46, had previously responded to an undercover prostitution ad using the alias “Joe” and allegedly negotiated $160 for an hour of sexual activity. Investigators directed him to a fake lot number before officers stopped him.
York was arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He ultimately pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools and was fined $1,150.
The NFL is reviewing the case under its personal conduct policy.
The 49ers have said the legal matter is “resolved” and that the organization will not comment further.
