Jay-Z wants a six-figure court judgment against Lillie Coley to survive her bankruptcy, extending a legal battle related to allegations that he fathered Rymir Satterthwaite.
The rapper has asked a bankruptcy court to prevent Coley from wiping away the $119,235.45 she was ordered to pay after losing a federal lawsuit against him.
Coley, Satterthwaite’s godmother and former legal guardian, sued Jay-Z in California in May 2025. Her complaint accused him of fraud, intentional infliction of emotional distress and misconduct involving previous court filings and property liens.
The case was dismissed in November 2025. A judge later awarded Jay-Z attorneys’ fees and costs under California’s anti-SLAPP law, entering the judgment in January 2026.
Jay-Z’s latest filing argues that the debt should not disappear in bankruptcy because it resulted from alleged fraud and harassment.
TMZ reported that his legal team called Coley’s claims “fraudulent statements and misrepresentations designed to harass and target” him. His attorneys also alleged that Coley and Satterthwaite have pursued “numerous unfounded court filings, online harassment campaigns and public statements” for about a decade.
Coley is fighting the request and has asked the bankruptcy judge to throw it out. The court has not yet issued a final decision.
