Jay Elecronica Calls for Diddy’s Freedom: Free Puff!

Roc Nation rapper Jay Electronica is continuing to stand by Sean “Diddy” Combs as the music mogul awaits a decision in his appeal case.

On his recent album A Written Testimony: Leaflets, Jay references his connection to Diddy and his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura while making it clear where his loyalty lies.

“I lived with Puff while he was with Cassie,” Jay says on the project, later adding that he never appeared in any of the legal paperwork tied to the disgraced music mogul’s criminal case. Last year, Jay appeared at a New York City courthouse in support of Diddy during the trial.

Jay and Diddy have maintained a close relationship for years, and in 2010, Jay included a spoken-word appearance from the Bad Boy founder on his song “The Ghost of Christopher Wallace.”

Diddy, 55, is currently waiting to learn whether his conviction and sentence will be overturned after his attorneys argued before a three-judge panel at the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan last week. The rapper and producer was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and sentenced to 50 months in prison. He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

According to Diddy’s legal team, the judge should not have considered evidence tied to the counts on which he was found not guilty, including allegations involving Ventura. The appeals panel has not yet issued a decision.
