Ja Rule is speaking out after a tense airplane confrontation with members of G-Unit, Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, went viral online.

In a statement shared with ABC News, the 49-year-old rapper acknowledged the incident and took responsibility for his actions.

“I’m not proud of my behavior. It’s goofy to me,” said Ja Rule. “I’m a grown man about to be a proud grandfather and I wish that video of me wasn’t out there either.”

The video shows Ja Rule seated on a flight near Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda before a verbal exchange erupts. Flight attendants eventually stepped in and Ja Rule did not continue on the flight.

“I don’t like people taking me out of my character,” he added in his apology. “For that I apologize to my wife, family, fans, business and investment partners.”

Ja Rule later claimed online that he was removed despite trying to keep to himself, though that post was deleted. Tony Yayo later shared his perspective in an interview, describing the moment as tense but non violent, alleging that Ja Rule appeared uneasy and threw a pillow during the exchange.

The situation sparked a response from his longtime rival 50 Cent, who mocked the incident on social media. Despite the controversy surrounding it, Ja Rule says he is ready to move forward.

“I don’t start trouble,” he said. “But I’m still a man and I’m going to stand my ground.”
