Ice Spice’s wig drama is heading into legal testimony, with the rapper now expected to answer questions under oath in a lawsuit over more than 25 custom-made wigs.
The “Munch” rapper is scheduled to appear for a September deposition, according to newly obtained court documents. The proceeding is part of a lawsuit filed by Thee Bella Brand LLC, which claims Ice Spice and her team never paid for a large custom wig order.
The company says the wigs were worth $20,000 and alleges that some of the pieces were inspired by hairstyles worn by Nicki Minaj. Thee Bella Brand is seeking more than $400,000 in losses.
The case began drawing attention after Gia, the owner of Thee Bella Brand, accused the “No Clue” artist’s team of canceling the order after the company had already started making the wigs. Gia claimed the payment date was repeatedly delayed until the order could no longer be completed.
The company also alleges Ice Spice’s team refused to pay the agreed-upon service fee after canceling.
Ice Spice has denied the allegations.
Ice Spice, born Isis Gaston, rose from the Bronx drill scene to pop-culture ubiquity after her 2022 breakout “Munch (Feelin’ U)” went viral on TikTok. She followed up with hits and high-profile collaborations, including “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj, “Karma” with Taylor Swift, and “Barbie World” with Minaj for the Barbie soundtrack, helping her earn four Grammy nominations in 2024, including Best New Artist.
She also won Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards and released her debut album, Y2K!, in 2024, which struggled to match the success of her earlier releases.
