The divorce battle between Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker just took a very uncomfortable turn. And this time, it involves heat, hot water, and a whole lot of tension.
Media Take Out previously broke the news that Todd has been living in Kandi’s guest house while waiting for their divorce to be finalized. But now, Media Take Out has learned that over the weekend, the heat and hot water inside the guest house were suddenly shut off.
And the timing has raised eyebrows.
It is not yet clear whether the outage was caused by a mechanical malfunction or whether it was intentional. But given the ongoing legal war between the two, the situation has only fueled speculation that this could be part of the escalating standoff.
Kandi has already made her position clear in court filings. She considers Todd to be a squatter in the guest house, which she says she purchased before their marriage. She has argued that he has been living there without contributing to utilities, maintenance, or any household expenses.
From her perspective, there is no reason he should be living there rent free.
Todd, however, sees things very differently.
He has told the court that he has served as the children’s primary caregiver and believes he is entitled to remain in the home while the divorce plays out. Todd argues that during their marriage, Kandi was the primary financial provider and that their arrangement allowed him to focus on raising the children.
In his view, that arrangement should not suddenly disappear just because they are separating.
Now, with the heat and hot water shut off, the living situation has become even more tense. And with Atlanta temperatures expected to dip into the 40s at night, the guest house may not be the most comfortable place to stay.
Neither Kandi nor Todd has publicly addressed the outage directly.
Still, the symbolism is hard to ignore. In a divorce already defined by disputes over money, property, and parenting, even basic utilities have now become part of the larger battle.
For now, Todd remains in the guest house as the legal process continues. But one thing is clear. This divorce is getting colder by the day.
