Hayden Panettiere’s Ex Brian Hickerson Breaks Silence on Her Death

Tiffany Brockworth |

Brian Hickerson has broken his silence after Hayden Panettiere’s death, saying through his attorney that the investigation needs to run its course before he says anything more.

“Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed,” attorney Sloan Ellis told TMZ.

Ellis also cited authorities’ initial findings, saying, “As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.”

The brief statement ended with a request for privacy.

“Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time,” Ellis said.

Brian was reportedly inside the South Carolina apartment when Panettiere was found unresponsive. His brother, Zach Hickerson, reportedly found her sitting in an armchair while Brian slept in another room.

Emergency personnel tried to revive Panettiere, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Brian reportedly became visibly emotional after attempts to save her were unsuccessful.

Police said Brian provided officers with a bag of medications Panettiere had been taking before her death.

The investigation has since expanded, with the DEA reportedly becoming involved alongside other agencies.

Brian and Panettiere first began dating in 2018. Their years-long relationship had a troubled history and became connected to multiple domestic violence cases involving Brian.

His attorney, a former federal prosecutor who has previously worked with the DEA and FBI, said no additional comments will be made while investigators continue examining Panettiere’s death.
