Gucci Mane famously got an ice cream tattooed on his face back in 2011, but the rapper says he regrets it.
“I wouldn’t take credit for starting the trend, but I think I definitely made people think it was something cool to do,” he said on The Morning Hustle. “I was going through something when I did it. If I could do it over again, I probably wouldn’t have [done] it. People don’t know the backstory to that. I wasn’t in a healthy place at the time. That was just a sporadic thing I did.”
The rapper had the cone inked on his face just days after he was released from a mental health facility. At the time, he appeared in court claiming mental incompetence and saying he was unable to ‘intelligently participate in the probation revocation hearing’.
He was also battling with addiction.
“Drying out from drinking lean is probably the worst feeling in the world,” said Gucci. You know, it tear your body down, it tear your mind down. You’ve been doing something for so long, it’s kind of like food. It’s like starving. It’s indescribable. It’s terrible, terrible pain,” he told ESPN in 2017.
