Former NFL star Marcellus Wiley is facing a new lawsuit from a woman who alleges he raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room nearly 28 years ago.
The 51-year-old former Buffalo Bills defensive lineman was sued Tuesday in Los Angeles County by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who claims she was a 22-year-old University of Southern California student when the alleged assault occurred in 1999.
According to documents obtained by the California Post, Doe met Wiley in February of that year, and the two went on several outings before visiting a nightclub together. She claims Wiley persuaded her to accompany him to a hotel near Los Angeles International Airport, where she agreed to stay overnight after repeatedly explaining that she did not want to have sex.
Doe alleges she fell asleep fully clothed before awakening to Wiley sexually assaulting her.
“Please stop,” she allegedly pleaded, according to the lawsuit.
Doe claims she later underwent a rape examination and reported the incident to police. Prosecutors declined to pursue criminal charges then.
Her lawsuit seeks damages for sexual battery, assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The former Pro Bowler has also faced separate sexual misconduct allegations from other women, including his estranged wife, Annemarie.
He has denied those previous accusations.
