Former Christian Wood has been granted temporary sole custody of his 2-year-old son and a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, Yasmine Lopez.
According to court documents, the former Los Angeles Lakers player sought protection after a frightening incident at his home in early November. Wood told the court he believed his life was in danger after three men allegedly attempted to break into his house in broad daylight.
“I genuinely believed I was going to die,” he stated, claiming the timing and circumstances led him to fear the incident was targeted.
Wood further alleged that Lopez’s behavior in the days surrounding the incident raised an alarm. He said she was evasive about visitation and shared a social media post that felt “deeply disturbing” given what followed. In his filing, Wood claimed, “The only reasonable conclusion is that they were there to kill me.”
Lopez has forcefully denied any involvement. “I had absolutely no involvement in the incident,” she said in her own filing, adding that she was “shocked, scared, and confused” when she learned a firearm had been discharged inside Wood’s home. She maintained she acted cautiously only out of concern for their son’s safety.
A judge issued a temporary restraining order requiring Lopez to stay away from Wood and their child and awarded Wood temporary sole custody.
Lopez has also been granted her own restraining order against Wood based on separate allegations and both parties are expected to present their claims at a court hearing scheduled for January 14.
