Floyd Mayweather Heads Back to the Ring Amid Pacquiao Drama!

Lyndon Abioye |

Floyd Mayweather is heading back into the ring for another exhibition bout, announcing that he will face former kickboxing star Mike Zambidis on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

This will be his latest appearance in a series of exhibition fights since stepping away from professional competition.

“IT’S OFFICIAL. June 27 – Athens, Greece. History will be made,” Mayweather wrote on social media. “I’m stepping in the ring with Mike Zambidis. One night. One stage. An all-out bout you don’t want to miss.”

Zambidis, widely known in Greece for his accomplishments in kickboxing, built his reputation in the sport with multiple titles, but he has limited experience in boxing.

Mayweather’s next fight was initially thought to have been with Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas in September. Both fighters have addressed the possibility of a rematch, though details about the format remain unclear and it has not been officially confirmed.

The two previously faced off in 2015 in one of boxing’s most anticipated events.

“He’s a self-proclaimed GOAT. He cannot claim that he’s the only undefeated fighter who retired. There’s at least more than 15 fighters that retired undefeated,” Pacquiao said via Inside the Ring.

“But I can claim [that I’m] the only eight-division [world champion in history]. And I’m the only fighter that became a world champion in four different decades.”
