Donald Trump faced a major ‘L’ in court this week after a federal appeals court upheld the jury’s verdict finding that he sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll.
Trump also requested a retrial, which a judge denied.
Carroll alleged Trump r*ped her in the Bergdorf Goodman department store. He then publicly denied the claim and defamed her, accusing her of trying to sell more copies of her books and lying about the alleged incident.
Carroll was awarded $5 million, which the president-elect will be forced to pay.
“The American People have re-elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate, and they demand an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded Carroll Hoax, which will continue to be appealed. We look forward to uniting our country in the new administration as President Trump makes America great again,” Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, said in a statement.
Carroll’s team celebrated the win.
“Both E. Jean Carroll and I are gratified by today’s decision. We thank the Second Circuit for its careful consideration of the parties’ arguments,” said Roberta Kaplan, Carroll’s attorney.
