Former NFL star Le’Veon Bell has been ordered by a jury ordered to pay $25 million to a woman who claimed he s*xually ab*sed her from when she was six or seven years old until she was an adult.
The victim accused Le’Veon and La’Vonte of the abuse. A court ordered the former athlete to pay her $20 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. His brother was ordered to pay the victim $11 million in damages.
In her lawsuit, the victim claims Le’Veon used “slang terms” to order her to perform the incestual “upon him.”
“For instance,” the suit reads per TMZ, “he termed oral sex ‘fire.'” Even after he went away to college, he allegedly continued to abuse her when he would return to Ohio for visits. He is eight years older than her.
Bell’s attorney, Thomas W. Shaffer, issued a statement denying the allegations.
My client adamantly denies any and all allegations that have been lodged against him. Further, he was never served with a civil complaint or any documents. The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served. My client is in the process of filing a motion to open and reverse the default judgment because the narratives of the case have never been litigated.”
The Bell brothers reportedly had an attorney file a response on their behalf. Reports also show that both brothers failed to attend hearings held on Feb. 25 and 26 to determine damages.
