Dr. Dre on Kendrick Lamar’s Beef With Drake: ‘That Was a Big Mistake’

Tiffany Brockworth |

Dr. Dre has weighed in on Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar’s rap beef with Drake, and implied that he was going to remain neutral until Drizzy mentioned K.Dot’s wife and kids.

“I love [‘Not Like Us’],” Dre said on The Unusual Suspects podcast. “I’mma say this on camera. I don’t want to get negative. My whole s–t is about being positive and moving forward and all that s–t, but the fact I heard Drake say something negative about Kendrick’s wife and his kids, that made me say, ‘Ah, adios!’”

During the beef, Drake claimed that K.Dot’s wife, Whitney, had stepped out on him with his close friend, Dave Free. He even claimed that Kendrick’s son was actually fathered by Free and that he beats his fiance.

In the clip above, Dr. Dre goes on to say that Drake made a “big mistake” messing with Kendrick.

Kendrick responded with his own claims about Drizzy’s alleged lifestyle which led to Drake suing UMG for defamation for promoting K.Dot’s smash hit, “Not Like Us.”

Drake claims UMG of using the beef to devalue his worth as an artist ahead of upcoming contract negotiations.
