Boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis is facing new legal trouble after a judge in Baltimore issued an arrest warrant tied to his ongoing probation.
Court records show Circuit Judge Althea M. Handy signed off on the warrant Monday, citing concerns that Davis violated the terms of probation stemming from a 2020 hit-and-run case that left four people injured, including a pregnant woman. The warrant comes days after the 31-year-old fighter was taken into custody in Florida on separate accusations involving an ex-girlfriend.
Davis later posted bond in that case.
His attorney, Hunter Pruette, has asked the Maryland court to reconsider the warrant and allow Davis to appear voluntarily. In a filing, Pruette argued that Davis has cooperated since his recent arrest and that detaining him would complicate his ability to address the Florida matter.
“Mr. Davis has appeared as directed, posted bond, complied with all conditions, and remained within Florida,” the filing stated.
Judge Handy has had a complicated history with the boxer, previously ordering jail time after discovering Davis did not serve home detention at his primary residence. At a past hearing, she warned him, “You need to wake up.”
Davis, a Baltimore native with an undefeated professional record, has not publicly commented on the new warrant.
