Dave Portnoy is weighing in on the allegations facing Stefon Diggs, and the Barstool Sports founder says he believes the NFL star deserves patience as the legal process unfolds.
“In this great country, it’s innocent until proven guilty,” Portnoy said in a video shared to his Instagram Story.
Portnoy also referenced the team’s history, saying, “No organization has taken the higher road more than the Patriots. We look for good people. Good humans.”
The sports personality then turned his attention to the unusual details of the accusation against Diggs, who has been charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault following a dispute with his live-in personal chef.
“I have a personal chef,” Portnoy said. “People don’t understand how those arrangements work. If you’re owed a ton of money, you stop working. That’s why this doesn’t add up to me.”
According to a police report, the chef claimed Diggs told her not to work during a specific week but still expected payment. After the alleged incident, she left the home and later attempted to recover unpaid wages without signing a requested nondisclosure agreement.
Diggs has denied all allegations through his attorney, who called the claims “unsubstantiated” and tied to a financial disagreement.
