The parents of Celeste Rivas Hernandez are making sure that their daughter’s alleged killer does not get away with any crimes.
On Thursday, Mercedes Martinez and Jesus Edgardo Rivas Alvarado filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against singer D4vd, alleging he manipulated, trafficked and ultimately killed their 14-year-old daughter.
D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, is already facing a separate criminal case and has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and other charges.
The civil complaint alleges D4vd, who was arrested back in April, began a sexual relationship with Celeste when she was 13 and used gifts, money, food, shelter, and travel to maintain control over her. Her parents also claim he gave her a hidden cellphone and arranged transportation without their knowledge.
In the lawsuit, her parents further allege that Celeste became pregnant and that the disgraced singer forced her to have an abortion, describing his alleged behavior as “extreme and outrageous conduct exceeding all bounds of decency tolerated in a civilized community.”
Today Celeste Rivas Hernandez would have turned 16.

D4vd’s mother, two of his business managers, his live-in security guard and entertainment companies tied to him are also named as defendants.
The family is seeking unspecified damages for claims that include wrongful death, emotional distress, false imprisonment and childhood sexual assault.
Prosecutors allege D4vd killed Celeste after she threatened to expose their relationship. Her decomposed remains were found inside the front trunk of his Tesla in 2025.
A trial date has not been scheduled.
