Authorities are continuing to investigate the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after her body was found inside a Tesla registered to musician D4vd in early September, and new reports have broken that the singer, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has been identified by investigators as a suspect, though he has not been charged.
According to NBC4, a police source said Burke has not been fully cooperative and that detectives believe Rivas Hernandez died in the spring.
The same source indicated that investigators think more than one person may have been involved in disposing of her remains. The LAPD has not confirmed these claims due to the active investigation.
Rivas Hernandez was reported missing from Lake Elsinore on April 5. Her remains were discovered on September 8 when staff at a Hollywood tow yard contacted police about a strong odor coming from a Tesla that had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills before being towed.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified her on September 16 and later released her body to her family, though the cause and manner of death remain undetermined because of significant decomposition.
In the weeks after the case opened, Burke transferred ownership of two Houston properties to his mother. Burke, who grew up in Queens before moving to Texas at 13, rose to fame after his homemade songs went viral on TikTok. He was touring internationally in support of his debut album Withered when the investigation became public and later canceled his remaining United States dates.
