Claressa Shields says she is surprised she has not gotten pregnant yet while dating Papoose.
The boxing champion made the revealing comment during her Aug. 7 appearance on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday Podcast after being asked what she and Papoose like to do together away from work.
“I think we enjoy eating together and a lot of times we just enjoy lounging around,” Shields said. Then she added, “Like, I’m surprised that I haven’t been pregnant yet.”
When Newton reacted, Shields doubled down.
“Seriously. Like, no. Like, for real,” she continued, explaining that when she visits Papoose for “two, three, four weeks at a time,” she is often “in the bed most of the time” when she is not training.
Shields has been open about wanting motherhood to happen before she finishes boxing.
“I don’t want to wait till I’m, you know, 40, 43, whatever, after my career, to have my kids,” she previously said on The Pivot Podcast. “I want to be able to run at the park with my kids and stuff like that.”
Shields also recently found herself in a heated exchange with Atlanta radio host Mz Shyneka after the Streetz Morning Takeover personality asked her, “How much longer are you willing to be in a relationship with somebody’s husband?” Shields pushed back, insisting Papoose is separated from Remy Ma and going through a divorce.
Days later, she criticized Shyneka publicly, calling the question “distasteful” and accusing the host of chasing attention after the interview went viral.
