Charlize Theron: My Adopted Kids Won’t Get ‘Free Ride – They Need To ‘Earn It’

NO NEPO BABIES HERE! Charlize Theron Says Her Daughters Are Getting “Datsuns” and Starbucks Jobs!

Media Take Out has the absolute “Real Talk” update from the baddest mom in Hollywood! Charlize Theronmay be an Oscar winner and a global superstar, but when it comes to her kids, she’s running a tight ship. The Mad Max actress made it clear that her daughters, Jackson and August, won’t be living off her millions forever—and they definitely won’t be driving Ferraris to high school!

Appearing on the April 29, 2026 episode of the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Charlize kept it 100% real about her parenting philosophy: Independence or bust.

“Your First Car Is Going To Be A Datsun”

Charlize isn’t interested in the “spoiled Hollywood kid” trope. She told Jake Shane that her daughters are going to have to learn the hard way—starting with their first set of wheels.

  • The Reality Check: “First of all, your first car is going to be a Datsun because you’re going to crash it,” Charlize said bluntly. “You’re a new driver. So, we’re not getting, like, the nice car up front. We need a little bit of experience, and we’re going to earn it.”
  • The Bottom Line: Charlize wants her kids to understand the value of things, even if their mom is worth $170 million.

The Starbucks Standard

It’s not just about the cars—Charlize is already prepping her girls for the working world. She says she uses every trip to the local coffee shop as a “teachable moment.”

“Every time we go to Starbucks, I’m like, ‘Look at this … Do you see how friendly? You have to be that friendly every morning at 6 a.m., like start getting ready for it.’”

Charlize was adamant that she does not want to be a lifelong financial safety net. “They just need to get a job that pays them because I don’t want to support them for the rest of life,” she joked (but we know she was serious!).

Supporting Her Daughters’ Truth

While Charlize is “tough” when it comes to work ethic, she is famously supportive when it comes to her children’s identities. Charlize adopted her two daughters, and several years ago, she revealed that her eldest, Jackson, had transitioned.

  • The Story: Charlize shared that when Jackson was three years old, she looked at her and said, “I am not a boy!” * The Support: Since then, Charlize has been a fierce advocate for her girls. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” she previously told the Daily Mail.

Staten Island Style in Midtown

Just last week, on April 23, 2026, Charlize was spotted looking radiant in Midtown Manhattan. She’s currently promoting her new Netflix film, “APEX,” and insiders say she’s been taking the girls with her to show them exactly how hard she works to maintain their lifestyle.

Is Charlize right to make her kids get “Starbucks jobs,” or should they be allowed to enjoy the perks of having a superstar mom? Let us know in the comments!
