Charlamagne Sounds Off on Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl Controversy: ‘What Is There to Talk About?’

Tiffany Brockworth |

Charlamagne Tha God thinks it’s time to move on from Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction.

The radio personality dismissed renewed discussion of the 2004 incident during yesterday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, following reports that Jackson may address the controversy in Timberlake’s upcoming Apple TV documentary.

“What is there to talk about 22 years later?” Charlamagne questioned.

“Back then, it was a big deal. ‘Oh my god, the titty on TV right in the middle of the Super Bowl.’ Now, that’s nothing. Who cares?”

Timberlake accidentally exposed Jackson’s breast during their performance of “Rock Your Body.” Jackson was blackballed from the industry at the time, including being excluded from the 2004 Grammy Awards.

Timberlake, meanwhile, returned to the Super Bowl stage as a headliner in 2018 with almost zero damage to his career. He did not publicly support or defend her, leaving her to take the fall, completely.

The singer eventually apologized in 2021 after criticism resurfaced about his treatment of Jackson and former girlfriend Britney Spears.

“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,” Timberlake wrote.

Jackson previously revealed in her 2022 Lifetime documentary that she had asked Timberlake not to address the controversy publicly.

Her involvement in his reported new docuseries remains unconfirmed.
