Charlamagne Says Megan Needed More Stage Time Before Tony Awards Spotlight!

Tiffany Brockworth |

Charlamagne tha God is questioning why Megan Thee Stallion took the Tony Awards stage after cutting short her Moulin Rouge! The Musical run, especially since the exit came right after her breakup from NBA baller Klay Thompson, was confirmed.

On Monday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne weighed in on Megan’s appearance at the 2026 Tony Awards, where she performed during the opening ceremony with Pink and several Broadway stars.

“I agree because NBA players got to play a certain amount of games in order to get certain awards,” Charlamagne told his radio cohosts. “She should have had to be in a certain amount of plays to be at the Tony Awards.”

Megan began her Broadway run as Zidler on March 24, 2026. She was originally scheduled to stay in the role until May 17, but left on May 1. The early exit was announced shortly after her representative confirmed to Complex that she and Thompson had ended their relationship. Megan did not give an official explanation for leaving the musical early, and the production did not either.

There is no attendance requirement for appearing at The Tonys; the executive producers decide who is invited, and Pink, who helped host the ceremony, has not debuted on Broadway.

Megan was also not eligible for a Tony nomination.
