Boxer Devin Haney Sues Ex Leena Sayed Over $350k Gifts

Boxing champion Devin Haney is taking his former fiancée, Leena Sayed, to court, claiming she kept hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of luxury gifts after their engagement ended.

Haney filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County this week, alleging that Sayed is holding on to nearly $350,000 worth of items, including designer handbags, diamond jewelry, and a high-end watch.

In the filing, Haney says these were “conditional gifts” based on the understanding that the two would marry and that Sayed is legally obligated to return them now that the engagement is over.

California law generally treats engagement gifts as conditional, meaning the giver may be entitled to get them back if the wedding does not happen, especially if the recipient called off the engagement.

Sayed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, called the lawsuit an attempt to “punish” her, pointing out that she previously obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Haney. Kaplan said the filing is the latest in a series of legal battles between the former couple, who welcomed a daughter earlier this year.

Haney, 25, is seeking not only the return of the gifts but also damages exceeding $500,000.
