Anthony Joshua is mourning the loss of two close friends after a devastating car crash in Nigeria that left him hospitalized and claimed their lives.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram on January 29, the boxer reflected on how quickly everything changed. “We had so many plans to wrap up 2025, and we were on a mission,” he said. “We went back home, went to see our families, and everything just got flipped upside on its head.”
Joshua confirmed that Latif “Latz” Ayodele and Sina Ghami, who worked as his trainer and strength and conditioning coach, were killed in the December 29 collision. “They’re my brothers. They’re my friends, first and foremost,” he said. “Then we became business partners. We became housemates. We were living together.”
The athlete shared that surviving the crash has altered his perspective. “One day my time will come, and I’m not scared either,” he said. “It’s actually comforting knowing I’ve got two brothers on the other side.”
Despite his grief, Joshua vowed to honor their legacy. “I’m going to do what’s right by them and what’s right by their family,” he said.
He also thanked fans for their support. “We heard the messages, the prayers,” Joshua added. “Thank you for the love worldwide.”
