Akon is sharing more about his personal life… and his wives.
During a recent episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, the “Lonely” singer confirmed he has more than one wife, but refused to reveal exactly how many wives he currently has.
“I’ll just leave that to your imagination,” Akon said.
The 53-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, said he is the “only man” in the arrangement and that his wives do not have other partners and that his first wife holds a special place.
“That one is the reason you even got one, two or three. She’s the queen,” he said. “Nobody violates wife No. 1. The moment they violate, [they are] out the door.”
Akon said he believes the first wife carries the heaviest adjustment as the family grows.
“With new people [joining] your family, there’s going to be new attitudes, new mindsets, new behaviors,” he continued, adding that she has “to deal with that.”
The singer, whose wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce in September after nearly three decades of marriage, also said that communication keeps their arrangement healthy.
“You got to be mature enough to know that if this is the situation that I’m going to park in, I have to communicate,” he added.
