A Colorado teen, Jovanni Sirio-Cardona,16, is currently being tried as an adult after fatally shooting his girlfriend in front of her younger brother after she attempted to break up with him, according to the Weld County District Court Division 17.

According to prosecutors, Jovanni told the victim he would murder her after she tried to break up with him. On June 16, Jovanni was caught running down a path that led to 15-year-old Lily Silva-Lopez’s home at 3:45 p.m.

They claim that the teen broke into her room by climbing through the window. Lily was heard screaming for her younger brother, who was in another room watching tv. She warned her brother to run moments before shots began to fire, Lily’s 13-year-old brother told officials, saying in an arrest warrant was obtained by Denver 7.

Jovanni allegedly shot the teen girl several times in her home’s hallway. Lily’s younger brother told officials that he witnessed her on the floor as Jovanni stood over her with a gun as blood dripped from his nose. Lily’s brother said Jovanni confiscated his phone so he couldn’t contact the police. The 16-year-old ex-boyfriend also asked Lily’s younger brother to help him move her body before pulling her into her room alone.

The 13-year-old boy ran to his neighbor’s home, and Jovanni fled. Officials say Lily’s brother pointed out Jovanni as the shooter. Records say that when officials went to the suspect’s home, and his grandmother asked why he told her, “he did what he had to do and shot someone.”

Jovanni has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, burglary, aggravated robbery, and juvenile possession of a handgun, The Post reports.
