2 Chainz is apologizing after his comments about celebrity privileges during a conversation with food critic Keith Lee sparked major backlash online.
The Atlanta rapper faced backlash after appearing on Kirk Franklin’s Den of Kings podcast, where he joined Lee, Desi Banks and Mojo Brookzz to discuss success and responsibility.
Things became heated when Lee addressed a negative review 2 Chainz accused him of making about one of his Atlanta restaurants.
Although he wasn’t the reviewer in question, Lee explained that his reviews focus on how ordinary customers are treated, rather than the special attention celebrities receive.
2 Chainz got into a DEBATE with Keith Lee after bringing up the BAD REVIEW Keith gave his restaurant, with Keith arguing that his reviews should reflect how REGULAR CUSTOMERS are treated, while 2 Chainz insisted celebrities EARN special treatment 2 Chainz also questioned whether Keith’s strict diet as a former athlete affects his TASTE in food and how he judges restaurants. “I’m an entertainer, and obviously we get perks that other people don’t get. That’s just period, my boy. I don’t stand in line at the airport. I don’t do none of that because I done worked my ass off to do this.”

“I don’t ever want to put nobody in a situation that they get a different experience only because they not Keith Lee,” he explained.
2 Chainz defended the benefits that come with fame.
“I’m an entertainer, and obviously we get perks that other people don’t get,” he replied. “I don’t stand in line at the airport. I don’t do none of that because I done worked my a– off to do this.”
Craziest part is, before yesterday, I literally had ZERO idea these videos from Keith or Chimetime existed, I never heard of Esco nor that 2 Chainz owned it. Him crying about an opinion got these videos circulating and now I’m learning about it. Insane backfire

Fans were quick to point out that the reviewer in question was not Lee, but North Carolina native, Mr. Chimetime.
Two days later, 2 Chainz addressed the controversy on X.
“I know my words offended some people and I apologize for that,” he wrote. “What I said and what I meant were two different things.”
I got a chance to speak to Keith after the podcast and it was all love. I know my words offended some people and I apologize for that. What I said and what I meant were two different things. I could’ve done a better job getting my point across. Toni
