Young Thugs attorney Brian Steel was held in contempt of court Monday afternoon and later sentenced to time in jail during the Young Thug, YSL RICO trial in Fulton County, Media Take Out has learned.
The lawyer was immediately handcuffed, and taken to jail – to sit alongside his client behind bars.
The incident unfolded after attorney Steel approached the bench following the lunch recess. And Steel revealed that he had knowledge of an ex parte conversation that took place before court on Monday morning.
This conversation, which involved the judge, prosecutors, and witness Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland, reportedly included Copeland’s admission to killing Donovan “Nut” Thomas Jr.
Judge Glanville demanded to know how Steel obtained this information, but Steel refused to disclose his source and was ordered to serve 20 days in jail.
This is an explosive claim because Copeland is an Atlanta musician widely believed to be the snitch who informed police on Young Thug’s alleged criminal activities.
In 2021, Copeland was arrested in Fulton County after a traffic stop uncovered a weapon on him. Copeland, already a convicted felon, could have been facing a 10-year jail sentence for having the weapon, but over the course of a three-hour interrogation, Copeland told detectives about several crimes that had happened and were about to occur – and implicated Young Thug.
