The man convicted in the murder of rapper Young Dolph has filed a motion seeking a retrial.
Justin Johnson, one of the suspects in the 2021 murder of rapper Young Dolph, was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Justin pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, and he was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm for shooting at Young Dolph’s brother, who was with the rapper when he was killed.

The court petition argues that there was insufficient evidence to find him guilty and that the court should not have shown graphic photographs of Young Dolph’s body.
Justin’s brother, Jermarcus Johnson, has already pleaded guilty to being involved with the assassination and faces between 6 and 12 years in prison.
Co-defendant Hernandez Govan is accused of planning the shooting with Yo Gotti’s brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, who offered the crew $100,000 to take out his brother’s rival.
