YNW Melly Tells Fans To Watch His Trial

Tiffany Brockworth |

YNW Melly hopped on social media to promote his ongoing trial for double murder.

“Go watch and support me during trial. Send a prayer for me. Day 2 @lawandcrime,” he wrote before eventually deleting the post.

The Florida rapper is facing double murder charges and may also face the death penalty if convicted.

At the beginning of the trial, YNW Melly’s lawyer, David Howard, called the prosecution’s investigation “incompetent and incomplete,” and insisted that his client had no reason to kill his friends.

“After four years of investigation, the state comes and says, ‘Hey, he killed two of his best friends.’ And you’re wondering why, and their answer is, ‘Uh, I dunno.’ That’s the first indication that they’re just guessing and don’t know what they’re talking about,” Melly’s attorney David Howard argued in court, per the Miami New Times

This case is among the first to be heard after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law reducing the requirements for a death sentence. Now only eight of the 12 jurors are required to recommend the death penalty. Prosecutors want Melly sentenced to death if convicted.
